Improvisational Acting for Adults Ages 18+

6-Week Class for Beginning Actors or people who just want to have some fun! The classes will include games and scenarios that will focus on body movement, emotional recall, listening skills, concentration, team-building, and character building.

These classes will be offered on a donation only basis. Although these these classes are donation-based, we ask that students dedicate themselves to the full 6-week class. Each week, we will build on the techniques and games used from the previous week, so it is important to attend all the classes unless previously arranged with the Acting Coach or in Emergency situations. We will NOT have class on Saturday, February 14th.

Improvisation, or improv, is a form of live theatre in which the plot, characters and/or dialogue of a game, scene or story are made up in the moment. In its purest form, the dialogue, the action, the story and the characters are created collaboratively by the players as the improvisation unfolds in present time, without use of an already prepared, written script.

Improvisational theatre exists in performance as a range of styles of improvisational comedy as well as some non-comedic theatrical performances. It is sometimes used in film and television, both to develop characters and scripts and occasionally as part of the final product.
